Lindor Milk and White Milk Chocolate Truffles review

If you've been reading the blog you know that this is one I've been waiting for, it's time to review Lindt's Lindor Milk and White Milk Chocolate Truffles. Now that's a mouthful.

So this is the "Limited Edition - seasonal flavor" Lindor chocolate that seems to be evoking Spring-time with its pastel green packaging resplendent with a butterflies and flower motif. I have to say the packaging is really nice. I don't think I've really spent much time looking over the Lindor packaging before because I'm not sure if this is a staple of the series, but I really like the story of Lindt text blurb on the back. I have a fondness for packaging that tries to evoke a mood and this definitely succeeds. Besides look at the picture beside the text burb below. That man is a chef you can trust, that man is obviously a master chocolatier, women want him, and men want to be him... I trust him implicitly, and know deep down in my bones that if he is the man behind my springtime chocolate I will love it.

But let's get down to it. One of the most satisfying things about Lindor chocolates, are the way you can grab the two tassels of plastic on the sides and have it twirl around to an open position. It's the little things... Inside we find the typical Lindor chocolate. A small depression on the bottom, a small expression on the top, and a seam around the outside. Lindor's all pretty much all look the same on the outside, but boy do they smell great.

Biting through the fantastically smooth milk chocolate exterior you'll find a white milk chocolate interior that can most simple be described as buttery, chocolaty, warming and delicious. The chocolate melts away in your mouth, and despite the subtle white milk chocolate flavor, the main thing I find myself focused on while enjoying a mouthful of Lindor, is the buttery texture. It's so strong that I wonder if someone averse to butter might be turned off by this. For my money it's pretty great though.

Everything is as expected here in terms of quality as well. Simply put, Lindt makes great chocolate. It's a Swiss company, and even though Lindor's are manufactured here in America in New Hampshire this tastes like European quality chocolate.

So in terms of taste I'll give this pretty high marks. I'm not sure it's any better than other Lindors, but its certainly at the same level of excellence.


I think my only gripe is the marketing. Why is this a seasonal flavor? What makes this Milk and White Milk Chocolate Truffle uniquely Spring-like? I don't know and I don't really think this is the kind of chocolate I would match to a Spring theme. To me Spring is about light, airy, new, fresh, and of course green. Well other than the green packaging, I don't think this matches my idea of Spring at all. When I think Spring, I'd rather have... I don't know, maybe a mint Aero bar or something. The butter texture, and overall smoothness give this chocolate a too refined taste.

Don't get me wrong, the quality is solid all around, but I disagree with the marketing that brands this chocolate as a Spring-time flavor.
