Love is in the Aisle

Its only a few scant days away from Valentines and there are some delicious goodies in the candy aisle.

Personally I'm not so much of a fan of simple changes to packaging, I really like it when candy and chocolate companies go out of their way to make something unique for the holidays.

Mixed in with the Valentines stuff there were a few early Easter items. Specifically Check out these egg shaped Lindors! Nice packaging on that :)

Also this 3 pack of Creme Eggs, has a To / From spot on the packaging. Since we don't usually give presents for Easter, or at least not that much... Do you think they are trying to get people to give Creme Eggs for Valentines?

I wish they would do a Valentines CReme Egg. Maybe strawberry flavored... it would be pretty good :D Anyhow, I'll have one or two Valentines reviews for you over the next week or so, just keep it locked right here.

More Christmas in the Aisle

I just can't help posting some more fun pics from the Christmas displays of candy and chocolates, it all looks so good!

Lots of goodies to check out here!

First ghost shapes at Halloween, and now skates for Christmas. How very Canadian of them. However, with everything thats going on with the NHL right now, it might upset some people...

Look at that great Toblerone Christmas wrapping. I love over-sized chocolates and Toblerone is the king!

Kinder has a nice display, although I'm not sure about the dolls. But just look at that Santa Claus. Seriously that is some Christmas magic right there :)

Berries grow in winter right? I guess in Sweden they do...

Cute Kisses packaging :)

Hershey also has re-molded and re-packaged their milk chocolate, and cookies 'n cream bars with fun holiday designs. Very cool. I especially like Frosty, he looks like the old Frosty cartoon version.

Toblerone, and Lindtgift boxes to wrap it out. There certainly is a lot of Christmas cheer in the Candy Aisle this year!

Toblerone has a size problem

I was flipping through the 'ol Pennysaver circular in the Sunday paper this morning and what did I see but an ad for Toblerone; and a sidebar highlighting some snazzy new packaging. Here's the main part of the ad.

Well? think about it? Do you really wish triangles were all made of Toblerone? I'd say probably not. If everything from your standard Yield sign to a pizza slice was Toblerone, I think I'd be driving into things while eating way too much. (Did I mention that I eat pizza while driving regularly?). And as for mountains made of Toblerone? Very dangerous when it comes to skiing.

The other bit of the ad was kind of interesting. And in direct contrast to the literal mountain of Toblerone in the picture above.

I'm not exactly sure why was wrong with the regular size Toblerone bar that they needed a smaller size. Yes we all know they come in giant sizes, but these days you can also get a pretty standard chocolate bar size in most stores (1.76 oz / 50 g). Sure by its nature you have to eat one triangle at a time, but i like having ... (I can't remember exactly but its) somewhere between 5 - 7 triangles in a bar. With only 3 traingles here in the mini version, I think I'd be wanting more. It's like those annoying fun sized Kit Kats that only have 2 sticks... might as well get a slap in the face.

My advice: stay away from both Toblerone minis and mountains of chocolate. Everything has its proper size even if the good people at Toblerone don't seem to understand that.
